how it all began

After moving to the United States and working in the film industry, we photographed our first wedding and were hooked. More than 500 weddings later, we grew into a studio and invited photographers and filmmakers who share our values to join. Today we guide creative direction, and our close knit team brings it to life with care.

Founded in 2012 by siblings Alex and Lydia, The I Do Photography continues a family tradition that spans generations.

Our grandma Valya began documenting life in albums before WWII, each carefully numbered and filled with moments big and small. She shot on a Praktica film camera and developed prints in a home darkroom with the windows covered in thick blankets.

Those albums taught us the value of preserving life’s fleeting moments with the people you love.

Based in California, New York, and Arizona, with teammates worldwide, we stay close as a community. We share work, inspiration, and ideas, support one another, and keep the conversation going between weddings so the care you feel on the day begins long before we arrive.
